I designed outside my lane — building a Screen Time feature concept with interns from
across Apple.
I designed and shipped a core editing workflow for millions of creators, in preparation for Final Cut Pro's arrival in the Apple Creator Studio.

Outside my core work on Final Cut Pro, I joined a small, dispersed team of interns across Apple's creativity and productivity app teams to design an original Screen Time feature concept from scratch. I led the UI/UX and wrote the notification copy, treating it as copy that needed to earn a reaction rather than simply deliver information. We met regularly outside our day-to-day teams, building the idea in the gaps between our main projects. I designed detailed hi-fi prototypes and shared them with the engineering interns, who gave feedback that shaped several rounds of iteration.

What we built became an abstract for design and product leadership

Every prototype I made across the project fed into a final abstract, laying out intentional design and copy guidelines for our Screen Time proposal. Notifications ended up being the piece that mattered most. Unlike everything else in the interface, they're seen instantly, and they often decide whether someone engages at all. That abstract is now in the hands of the builders behind Screen Time.
