in Apple Creator Studio
I Shipped a Core Video Editing Feature Used by
Millions of Creators.
Final Cut Pro is Apple's video playground for editing, audio, motion graphics, and color grading. I designed and shipped a core video editing feature for the app as part of the Apple Creator Studio, the collection of creative apps that includes Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, and more. Designing for Mac and iOS, I collaborated with design, marketing, and engineering teams across video, music, and digital imaging, taking ownership of opportunities across the video creation process.
My Role
Owned the UI/UX, UX copy, and iconography for video editing features across Mac and iOS.
Animated complex interactions and prototypes with Principle to present proofs of concept.
Collaborated with marketing to align on text strings and UX copy.
Aligned work across Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, and more, keeping every stakeholder in sync.
Partnered with engineering to deliver design specs and support them through build.

Reflection
Everybody loves a good story, and the best ones allow us to step into someone else's shoes and imagine possibilities we hadn't considered before. I presented a lot at Apple, formally and informally. Decks that centered on a moment where someone is using a design to do something they couldn't do before, were the ones that followed people out the door. There's a stark difference between explaining and storytelling, and my standards for presentations have been spoiled ever since.
